MAIN SCHOOL MUSIC CONCERT

Main School Concert 1

During my first term as Musical Director I have been blown away by the musical talent and participation at Yarlet.

It is a delight to see how well supported the children are in their musical lives by both parents and staff. The Form 5 and 6 recital evening went down a treat! The young musicians provided high quality entertainment while family were able to enjoy a glass of wine in the cosy atmosphere. We heard a wide range of music from medieval singing to West End musical numbers! All pupils performed brilliantly and the evening was a joy throughout.
The main school concert gave a platform for some of our Yarlet ensembles and soloists to demonstrate what they have been working so hard on over the past months. The string group brought back wedding memories for some parents in the audience as they played Pachelbel's canon. The clarinet and sax group got the audience tapping their feet with their jazzed up rendition of Happy by Bruno Mars, and the orchestra rounded off the concert with a Disney favourite of mine, Waltz from Sleeping Beauty.
I would like to thank all the performers who were involved in both the recital evening and main school concert this term, I have loved working with you and am very proud of what you are achieving. And finally I would like to thank all the parents who support their children's musical development by helping them practise at home, preparing them for performances and coming to watch them in the concerts. It means so much to the children and I know it encourages them to keep playing!
