VICTORY IN FINAL U13 RUGBY FIXTURE OF THE SEASON

Rugby U13 Foremarke 4

On Wednesday 4th March Yarlet welcomed Foremarke for what proved to be an excellent final fixture of the season.

Despite having to make the journey over from Derbyshire, the Foremarke boys started brightly, scoring two quick tries straight from the off; thanks in part to some slack Yarlet defending. However some excellent running from Harrison Hardy-Smith saw Yarlet pull a score back, only for some more defensive frailties to creep in and allow Foremarke a third try. However on the stroke of the whistle some superb hands meant Gabriel Korylco-Bowers was able to charge over for a second Yarlet try. With the first ten minute third over it was Yarlet 12-19 Foremarke.
Despite Foremarke's strong start Yarlet knew they had the the skill and the men to win this fixture, but they knew the next score would be key and straight from the kick off the Yarlet boys showed their intentions by scoring in the corner through Jake Raine. This set the tone for the rest of the game; gone were the defensive frailties, only to be replaced by ferocious tackling and excellent defence. The second third saw Gabriel Korylco-Bowers complete his hat-trick and a saw another try through Harry Raybould.
Yarlet knew in the final third they would have to show the same standard of play to put the game to bed, and once again straight from the kick-off, Harrison Hardy-Smith side-stepped his way through the Foremarke defence to offload to Korylco-Bowers to run in for his fourth of the game. Yarlet continued to tackle with great aggression and bravery stopping two, seemingly certain tries, within a metre of the line. Further tries came from Hardy-Smith, Raine and Raybould who all scored braces and a fifth from Korylco-Bowers. Final score Yarlet 64 - 19 Foremarke.
Despite the score line this was a superb contest between two very committed, physical sides and Foremarke deserve great credit for the way in which they played the game, however in the last fixture many of these boys will play for Yarlet, they were not to be denied a glorious final victory.
Well done boys for a superb win and an excellent season.
