U11 TOURNAMENT REPORT BY CHARLIE (HEAD BOY)

Yarlet vs Edenhurst

Fraser was able to demonstrate his excellent goalkeeping skills very early in the match. He made a splendid save on the inside left from what was a promising counter attack by Edenhurst. Both teams' good tactical astuteness in defence meant that the contest ended up in a stalemate.

Final score 0-0

Yarlet vs Old Hall

In the first minute, Izaak went straight into the attack but his shot was blocked by the last defender. Moments later, Jake scored a beautiful goal from long distance after some subtle interplay with Morgan. One minute later, Elliot saw his attempt at goal denied on the line by the goalkeeper. Old Hall then broke off into a counter attack and unfortunately scored just before the final whistle.

Final score 1-1

Yarlet vs Packwood

After just two minutes, Elliot made a run through the central channel, took his chance, shot from long distance and scored! Another attempt from Elliot in the 4th minute was regrettably saved by Packwood's goalkeeper. Just before the final whistle, Packwood went into a frantic counter attack but Fraser saved his team from a long distance attempt.

Final score 1-0

Yarlet vs Birchfield

At the beginning of the match Yarlet was on the backfoot and sustained a number of attempts at goal from Birchfield. However, Yarlet's defence was steely and was able to counter all attempts by Birchfield to breach its last line of defence. Towards the end of the match, Yarlet became more adventurous and Izaak would have broken the deadlock but for a good save from Birchfield goalkeeper. It ended in a draw.

Final score 0-0

Yarlet vs Prestfelde

In the second minute, Elliot ran through the inside left and shot but it was saved by some excellent goalkeeping from the Prestfelde goalkeeper. Yarlet pressing was excellent, Jake had two more goal attempts in the 3rd and 6th minutes but was twice denied by the woodwork. At last, Yarlet finally scored on the 7th minute. Jake ran on the inside right and after a great assist from Freddie, scored a sumptuous goal in the right top corner. Twenty seconds later, Elliot emerged from his defensive position, took the position of centre forward and scored just before the final whistle. Well done boys!

Final score: Yarlet 2- Prestfelde 0

Man of the Tournament: Morgan Cooper for great leadership throughout the tournament.
