Yarlet School | ANNUAL POETRY RECITING COMPETITION

ANNUAL POETRY RECITING COMPETITION

Amelia Lucas Poetry Reciting Winner

Wednesday 15th May saw the annual poetry recital take place in the school room and included every single member of the Yarlet community. There were many and varied poems recited on the day and the judges had a terrifically difficult job in choosing their winners - so much so, that they awarded four winners in the class categories: Nursery, in the EYFS section with their rendition of 'Little Turtle'; Form 2, reciting 'The Spider and the Fly' in the KS1 category; Form 4, with their version of Edward Lear's 'The Jumblies' in the KS2 contest; and Form 8, in the KS3 placings with their emotive rendition of 'The Charge of the Light Brigade' by Alfred Tennyson.

Our solo winners this year were Dillan, Form 2, with his most entertaining performance of 'Tiny Spiny Dinosaur' in the Pre-prep contest and Form 6's Amelia (main school) with 'A Mother's Confession' - the contents of this poem being something which Mrs Lucas strenuously denies! Well done to all of our participants and winners and many thanks to my co-host this year, Form 8's Elwin.

See you next year!
