On Monday, 29th February, Mrs. Caroline West invited parents to watch a demonstration of work the children have been doing in the extra-curricular drama sessions.
It was a combined Pre-Prep and Main School event where children recited dramatic poetry individually and in groups. Some of the poems had a distinctly 'school' theme, such as when a dog ate some homework, and all of the poems had a humorous punchline or a moral to be remembered. The children had memorised up to four poems each and spoke in perfect unison, using dramatic gestures where appropriate and introducing the title and the poet's name in clear diction. After the demonstration, Ms. Hewitson mentioned that she had loved drama during her school days and the fact that drama can impact on children and adults positively in at least sixteen different ways! It was a lovely mixture of excellent delivery in an informal atmosphere and parents, family members and staff were duly impressed. Many thanks to Mrs. Caroline for her drama lessons.
