Reception's annual jaunt to Jodrell Bank was a particularly special one this year, as Form 5 joined us for the trip.
Mrs Barron organised the visit, but unfortunately couldn't make it due to illness. Luckily Mrs George came to the rescue to drive the school bus and all was able to proceed as planned. All Reception pupils proudly pootled around the grounds, clasping their Form 1 clipboards (imagine the excitement) and impressing anyone who passed them with their love and knowledge of the solar system and their absolute awe of The Lovell telescope. It is delightful to see all the things we have learned in the classroom have relevance in real life applications. There is so much to do and discover and the children really used their critical thinking and problem solving skills to work out what each exhibition was trying to teach them.We met up with our Form 5 friends for lunch, before going our separate ways and continuing our exploration of all the resourses on offer. We were all sad to have to leave, but Mr Raybould had the marvellous idea of picking up an ice-cream on the way back to enjoy at school, so we filed back to the minibus and headed back to Yarlet. All in all, a really great day was had by everyone. Thanks especially to Mrs George for stepping in and saving the day for the Form 5s. All the staff were able to have a lovely time because of the wonderful behaviour of our children.
