Following our trips to Normandy, pupils had shown great interest when talking to Dave about the weaponry used both in mediaeval times and during both world wars.
On Thursday, 1st October, he came into school with all his precious artefacts and allowed pupils to wear them hold them and smell them! They trialled a norman shield, discovered how to make chainmail, carefully examined two WW1 bayonets and also tried on a WW1 helmet complete with a bullet hole. The highlight was a demonstration of a trebuchet, which Dave had made himself, and he is willing to show the siege weapon in all its glory in the summer term when he hopes to fire it on the main fields!
It was a sheer delight to welcome him back to Yarlet and to see the pupils' great enthusiasm for History!
