On Monday, Form 3 learnt about the symbolism of a Christingle...by making their own!
By constructing the ribbon, candle, cocktail sticks and mini-marshmallows around the orange, they learnt about how and why Christians have Christingles around Christmas time. They learnt how the ribbon represents the blood / love of Jesus, the sticks were the four seasons, and how the candle represented Jesus being the light of the world. The end results were very creative and looked wonderful, and the pupils had a very enjoyable time learning how to make their Christingle.
The pupils refrained from lighting them in class, for fear of setting off the fire alarm! But they are looking forward to using their works of art at home.
