U13 ROUNDERS MATCH V BEECH HALL

Girls Rounders 3

On 24th June, we played a 30 ball game of one innings against a mixed age team from Beech Hall.

Fielding was shaky to start but the girls soon started to show what they were made of, none more so than Abigael who stumped 3 girls out on first base (a position she doesn’t usually play!) Charmaine caught a high ball in the deep and Amelia caught a backwards hit at back stop. This left just 4 girls in at the end of the innings in which they had scored only 2 and a half rounders. An easy target, we thought!

Some fine hits were well fielded by our opponents with the result that Tawana was out on two and Charmaine and Henar were out on three! It was a real treat to see Emily and Liz scoring good half rounders with strong hits one nearly in the bush!

The best moments came however with a superb left handed hit from Holly which reached the slope of the hill! At last! Olivia decided to try a back handed shot which nearly took my head off but which thrilled the spectators as she charged to 4th post. Amelia scored the 3rd rounder from a super upward hit which confused the inner field and with her excellent running and risking she took some well-earned applause!

An emphatic win proving we can make catches in the deep and we can find the gaps in the fielding when we want to!
