Wednesday 8th July saw the Under 11s head to Grace Dieu for their final match of the season.
In overcast conditions Yarlet took to the field first and with short square boundaries and some erratic Yarlet bowling the Grace Dieu batsmen dominated the early exchanges. However, moving into the second half of the innings the Yarlet bowlers managed to slow the Grace Dieu charge, with Grace Dieu eventually finishing on 164 for 3 from their twenty overs.
The second innings saw a stunning response, with Greg Beardsmore in dominant form and with a seeming allergy to running proceeded to hit the Grace Dieu bowlers to all parts of the ground; bringing up his fifty in just the 4th over. This outstanding run chase continued at a pace until, unfortunately Beardsmore was caught on the boundary for a stunning 85. Yarlet continued to pushthe runs along, but unfortunately regular Grace Dieu wickets meant Yarlet fell just short of their total, finishing the innings 156 for 5.
This was a truely enthralling encouter, and special mention should go to U9's Alfie Farrington and Henry Pickering who performed brilliantly above their age group.
An excellent game to finish the season, well done boys.
