The rain held off during the match, but it had already done its damage. The pitch was sodden, and water logged in places, but mostly playable.
This was a very evenly balanced game, with both teams having spells on top. We missed Joe Archer, but Sean O'Reilly did a great job slotting back into midfield. The deadlock was broken just before half-time, when Max Raine curled a 20 yard free kick over the wall and into the top corner of the goal.
We played against a strong wind in the second half, and Foremarke grew in strength. Both sides hit the bar, but it was the home team that triumphed after two goalmouth scrambles. On each occasion the ball ended up trickling agonisingly over the wire.
A draw would have been a fair result, but we couldn't force an equaliser.
