U9 FOOTBALL V STAFFORD PREP

U9 v Stafford Prep 002

This was one of the U9's most thrilling and nail biting games this season, with a clash against a very evenly matched team.

Luke Jones, captain, rallied his players into position and, for the first quarter of the game, play was fast-paced. A slip in defence led to two quick goals for Stafford, but our U9s were undeterred and continued to play in a brilliant fashion.

The second and third quarters were almost a blur of toing and froing between both sides; defences were strong and attacks were equally contested each time. There were several near misses by the U9s, and some truly terrific punts from Oliver and William Connell, Henry Shaw and Theo Hargreaves.

Holding up in defence, Reuben Whitby-Samways proved to be a solid wall and blocked many an attack from the opposing team.
Fraser Dimberline served amazingly in goal and saved some terrific shots; easily his finest performance to date.
It was Ethan Squire that pelted a shot through several of the Stafford Prep players and into the goal that served as the highlight to the game.

A very fast-paced, tense match that the U9's performed brilliantly in; a true credit to the school and excellent sportsmanship shown.
