This was our final home match of the season, and it was an evenly-balanced game.
That is, we won the first half 5 - 0 and we won the second half 5 - 0, making the overall victory a grand total of 10 - 0.
There were hat-tricks for Sean O'Reilly and Joe Archer, two for birthday boy Max Raine, one for Jack Farrington, plus an own-goal. On the occasions when we were put under pressure, the defence held strong, and Gregor Beardsmore was a towering presence. Oliver Butters-Peers (who limped off after setting up a goal) and Fraser Lloyd enjoyed some space and possession on the wings. Charles Bane, Edward Cartwright, Toby Morris Roe and Harvey Wilkinson all played to the best of their ability, and Harvey in particular put in some fine tackles. Harry Cartwright was a safe pair of hands in goal.
Shrewsbury High Prep have stronger teams in the U11 age group so they may provide stiffer opposition in years to come. For now, though, we can savour the feeling given by a dominant victory.
Finally, a word for Theo Stubbs, who has been an outstanding ball boy for the past two seasons. He has taken his role seriously, racing around the field to retrieve the ball and get it back into play as quickly as possible. Thank you, Theo.
