Yarlet started the game well and had Denstone’s defence under pressure from the off with both Ben Eden and Mackenzie Tart looking dangerous on the wings.
Alfie Farrington went close on a couple of occasions having efforts well saved by their keeper and it looked only a matter of time before Yarlet went ahead.
However, Denstone slowly got themselves into the game and Henry Pickering and Jon Cunliffe both had to make last ditch tackles during Denstone attacks to prevent us going behind.
Yarlet then had a succession of corners and laid siege to the Denstone goal but, despite good efforts from Sam Archer and substitute Jamie Betteley, we could not break down their defence.
However, Yarlet began to pass the ball better and keep possession more and this produced the chance for Alfie Farrington to open the scoring with a crisp shot to the bottom corner of the Denstone net and send us in with a slender lead at half time.
The second half began with Denstone looking reinvigorated and Joseph Shaw had to be very quick off his line when bravely diving at the feet of their number 9 to prevent a certain goal.
Ben Eden and Sam Archer had chances to extend the lead as the game became end to end but Henry and Jon remained very solid in defence to prevent Denstone equalising.
With just 5 minutes remaining Yarlet put the game beyond reach when Sam Archer and Ben Eden combined well in midfield and found Jon Cunliffe, who had decided to rampage forward and he expertly took the ball in his stride and settled the game with a well struck right foot shot.
All of the squad were a credit to the school and worked very hard for a 2-0 win which was full of skill and endeavour from both sides.
