In very heavy and cold conditions Yarlet faced firstly Prestfelde's A side who were clearly a well drilled rugby outfit with several players of very good ability. They put us under intense pressure from the kick off with wave after wave of attacks and eventually our resolute defence gave way to concede a converted try. Yarlet tried to break out on several occasions via Gregor Beardsmore and Sean O'Reilly but Prestfelde were also excellent in defence and thwarted every attack from us. In fact it was Prestfelde who scored three more converted tries despite great effort and endeavour from Yarlet in defence to end up winning the game 28 - 0.
In the more evenly matched second game against their B side, Yarlet began the game on the attack and it wasn't long before the excellent Gregor Beardsmore touched down two converted tries in quick succession. It was end to end stuff with both sides giving no quarter in the tackle but again excellent attacking play enabled Sean O'Reilly to use his pace to touch down another try that was converted by Gregor. Prestfelde were not done, however, and replied with an excellent score of their own late on in the game, but Yarlet ran out the victors 21 - 7.
