U9 ROUNDERS V ST ANSELM'S

Rounders 1 3

Yarlet stepped into bat and found it difficult to get to 2nd post at first. With some encouragement from the captain and some risking Ella, Ellen Amelia, and Alice brought the score to a respectable 4 and a half.

Dreading huge hits, Yarlet fielded tightly and with consistent bowling from Sophie and super backstopping from Raphie it was a pleasure to watch the Yarlet girls working well as a team. There was an impressive catch from Tilly in the deep and 4 stumpings on 2nd 3rd and 4th! At half time we were just one rounder ahead.

The win was well within our grasp if we started to hit into good spaces and were prepared to risk while carefully watching the ball. The St. Anselm's bowler lost her concentration and with a fair few no-balls to bolster the Yarlet score the girls felt able to run on a bit further. The score crept up steadily due to spectacular runs from Raphie, Scarlet, Alice and Ella. We were now 13 and a half in total. Great!

St. Anselm's put up a good fight but Yarlet were too organised to allow any fielding mistakes. Alice made a super catch and ran several players out with her speedy running. Katie, Purdy Tilly and Ellen stopped the main hitters from scoring anything more than a half! Although the last ball was played three times, St. Anselm's was unable to top the Yarlet total.

Final score 13 and a half to 11 and a half to us, Yippee!

Well done girls!
