We kicked off our first match of the season on a gloriously sunny day, a delightful change from the thunderstorms the night before.
William Betteley, captain of the B team, swiftly rallied his team into a loud cry for Yarlet School, then the match against Packwood was on. It was a nervous beginning, with some players unsure of how to receive this new challenge, and soon enough the score was 3-0 to Packwood after the first ten minutes. After a quick water break, they were back in, and play was much faster, controlled and enjoyable to watch. There were some cracking saves from Harry Clarke in goal, as well as some terrific passing from Oscar Mobley and Robbie Holmes. Packwood were now the ones on the back foot, and this was evident in their increased defensive play. A narrow miss from William was the closest our team got to a goal, and we finished on a 6-0 loss. Judging by the smiles on the boys faces as they left the pitch though, it was obvious that they had enjoyed their opening game, and are raring for another try. Well done boys!
