The sun was out for perhaps the last time, just as the U9 A team were playing a fixture for their first time.
This was against Packwood, who have been tough rivals in the past. Headed by Henry Shaw, captain, the boys took to the field, and were anxious to get going. The first quarter proved a shock to our team, who were unprepared for the level of play the Packwood boys demonstrated. The score was 3-0 by the end of the first quarter. After a brief talk and a new outlook, the boys returned with renewed vigour for the second quarter. It was Angus Lloyd, a cracking young player, who scored first, followed swiftly by William Connell, on brilliant form as he stormed the pitch towards the opponent's goal. At this point it should be mentioned that Fraser Dimberline worked hard in his deserved position as goal-keeper, saving some tricky shots, and Reuben Whitby-Samways, who has shown some amazing improvement. By the last quarter, the score was 4-2 to Packwood, but our boys weren't done yet! William produced an overhead kick seemingly out of nowhere, and Angus clinched the draw with a last minute equaliser, making the match 4-4. Well done boys, keep it up!
