U11 GIRLS' HOCKEY V SHREWSBURY HIGH PREP

U11 Hockey v Shrewsbury High Prep

On Wednesday 21st September the U11 girls' hockey team played against Shrewsbury High Prep in lovely dry conditions.

Yarlet started with the first centre of the match, taken by Alice Beardsmore (Vice Captain) and Ella Nash, Yarlet were straight into the opponent's half. Shrewsbury kept pushing back as the ball kept hitting Yarlet's feet and giving free passes away, therefore Shrewsbury found themselves in Yarlet's half of the pitch more than the U11s would have liked. Jessica Cartmail (goalkeeper) carried out some outstanding saves with her feet, additionally with the support of her super defenders Scarlet Bryan, Purdy Oliver and Danielle Rotchell (Captain).

After Shrewsbury had scored 3 goals Sophie Beech made a great run assisted by Tilly Capewell but sadly missed the open goal by centimetres. The score stayed at 3-0 as Yarlet defended much better in the second half with Yarlet's Form 4 girls Raphaela Korylco-Bowers and Louiza Rae Wilcox not being intimidated by the Year 6 opponents. Our player of the match was Ellen Clark.

Yarlet U11 Hockey team fought so hard especially as they were playing against older girls. You made your school proud! Well done girls a super effort by every single one of you!
